Yet another honor for Michael Cacoyannis

Yet another honor, this time from the University of Athens, for Michael Cacoyannis, the Greek-Cypriot director who has honored Greece with his films at international festivals. With «Trojan Women,» «Electra,» «Zorba the Greek,» «Stella,» and «The Cherry Orchard» to his credit, Cacoyannis is always ready to contribute to cultural projects. Though he resigned from the directorship of the Cultural Olympiad, he has now become head of The Friends of Athens, which will light up archaeological sites for the 2004 Olympic Games. He spoke of this new mission at Athens University, directly after receiving his honorary doctorate from the Communications and Media Department. Intracom’s weighting in the MSCI Greece Index rose to 2.8 from 2.38 percent. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index gained 1.52 percent to 2,297.56 points. On the week, it fell 1.37 percent or 32 points.
