Environmental days

To commemorate tomorrow’s World Environment Day, the French Institute in Athens (IFA) and the Foundation of the Hellenic World are organizing two distinct events. In collaboration with the Eco-Cinema Festival (which will take place on Zakynthos in September), IFA’s scheduled events will take place tomorrow and Thursday. Tomorrow, Jacques Cluzaud and Michel Debats’s «Le Peuple Migrateur» will be screened at 9 p.m., while on the following day, Eric Valli’s «Himalaya» will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday’s screening will be followed by a round-table discussion, «The Earth of the People,» addressing issues such as the role of documentaries and festivals in raising public awareness. Meanwhile, the Foundation of the Hellenic World is organizing an educational event for the young (5-12 years old) which promises to be entertaining. Scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 9, children are invited to attend workshops on recycling, where they will discover that most of the things they use in their daily lives, such as paper and empty cans, can be used again. Also, they will be encouraged to draw their own view of nature, while members of ecological associations will be available to discuss it with them.
