Fairy tales and dreamy images at cozy venue in downtown Athens

Efi Lada and Ioanna Dakolia have produced paintings reminiscent of the images created by our imaginations when hanging on a storyteller’s every word. The works of Lada – an illustrator of children’s books – and Dakolia, a painter and author of children’s books, are on display at the Blackduck art space until May 24, in an exhibition titled «Fairy Tales under the Rooftops.» Both artists are the students of painter Giorgos Vogiatzis. The presentations of two books bearing illustrations by Lada have been scheduled to take place at Blackduck, which is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, as part of the exhibition. On May 11, Athina Biniou will present «Ta heirografa tou pyrgou» (The Castle Manuscripts), published by Patakis, while, on May 18, Manos Kontoleon will present «Dyo istories pou rotane» (Two Asking Stories), published by Agyra. Both events start at 7 p.m. But there is more. In the basement gallery of the cozy venue, which also has a cafe, bar and restaurant, Zoi Nikitaki and Christina Marsselou organize theater games for children aged 6 to 12 every Saturday at 11.30 a.m. throughout May, with a gold-and-green bird narrating stories. For reservations, call 6947.016.653. Blackduck, 9A Christou Lada & Stadiou, tel 210.323.4760.
