Just like long ago: Life and enterprise in the Ancient Agora reconstructed on Google Earth
It’s fascinating to imagine life in the capital city in another era. Now the Hellenic Foundation for Culture offers the opportunity to take a stroll through the Ancient Agora of Athens through a three-dimensional reconstruction available to all users of Google Earth (http://3d.athens-agora.gr). The Agora’s virtual reconstruction takes into account three different historical periods: the Classical, Hellenistic and Roman. The «Ancient Agora of Athens» project recently garnered first prize for 3D online application in a competition organized by the Khronos Group, an organization established by leading 3D graphic design companies. The project was developed in its entirety by the 3D graphic design and virtual reality department of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
