Exhibit of paint and words: ‘Woman in Light and Shade’

At last there is an exhibition of pages from the Greek press, with articles about women and their activities in the modern age. More than 450 articles taken from the Greek press from January to August 2002 have been framed and are accompanied by paintings by leading Greek artists, also inspired by women. The exhibition was launched at the Art Loft, organized by the Network of Greek Women Journalists (EDED). It is one of the activities of an EU program, «Now You Know,» which EDED undertook to coordinate in Greece, Spain and Italy with the help of other agencies in those countries. G. Markopouliotis, European Commission representative in Greece, opened the exhibition, and passed on the greetings of Greek Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou. EDED General Secretary Mary Pini explained how the exhibits were collected, while program manager Anna Alevra spoke about the program. A musical program followed, with National Opera mezzo-soprano Maria Marketou and tenor Stavros Salambasopoulos, with Maria Neofitidou at the piano. The general index lost 2.9 percent on the week, or 62.2 points.
