Frankfurt Book Fair, October 9-14

The 54th International Frankfurt Book Fair opened yesterday and runs till October 14. Greece, which made an impressive appearance last year as guest of honor, is present once again. The Greek delegation is centering its presentation on six writers who have published a book for the first time in the past year. Yesterday Nikos Panayiotopoulos spoke about his book, «The Gene of Doubt» (Reclam 2001). Today Sofia Georgallidi is presenting Maria Kondyli’s «Rough Notebook 1963-1964» (Metaichmio, 2002). Other new authors who will appear at the fair are Vangelis Hadziyiannidis, Sergios Gakas, Eleni Yiannakaki and Vassiliki Kappa. At the Greek stand, designed by Giorgos Psomadakis, Maria Marinou and Elli Pangalou, are representatives of all the organizations involved in the Greek delegation: the Panhellenic Federation of Publishers and Booksellers (POEB), the National Book Center (EKEBI), the European Translation Center (EKEMEL), and the Hellenic Society of Authors.
