Kertesz in Greek; Karagounis launch

Two books by Imre Kertesz, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, are to be translated into Greek, Kastaniotis Publishers announced this week. Neither book has a title yet but one of them is a novel and the other a collection of essays on the topic of alienation in the modern world. This will be the first time any of the Hungarian writer’s works have been translated into Greek. Kastaniotis closed the deal for the as-yet-untitled volumes with the German publisher Surhrkamp during the recent Frankfurt Book Fair. Book launching Livanis Publishers are launching Dimitris Karagounis’s «Buccaneers: The Brothers of the Shore» on Monday, October 21, at 7 p.m. at the Vox Cafe-Bookstore in Exarchia Square. Political Spring leader Antonis Samaras, journalist and former deputy Costas Nikolaou and Professor Laokratis Vassis will speak.
