O Vaftistikos | Athens | To November 6
The Greek National Opera will be staging a new production of Theofrastos Sakellaridis’s “O Vaftistikos” (The Godson) in a series of performances running taking place on October 30 and November 2 and 6. Directed by Simos Kakalas, the operetta is one of the Greek repertoire’s most popular works, with a story based on a series of comical misunderstandings. The cast is led by Georgia Iliopoulou and Gina Poulou alternating in the role of Vivika, and Diamanti Kritsotaki and Despina Skarlatou alternating as Kiki. The Greek National Opera Orchestra is led by Giorgos Aravidis and Andreas Pylarinos. Shows start at 8 p.m. Admission ranges from 15 to 35 euros (10 euros reduced). Tickets are on sale at the theater’s box office.
