Esteemed French philosopher Alain Badiou is coming to Athens on Thursday, January 25, to speak on the subject of “History: Structure and Events,” at the French Institute. Badiou was chair of philosophy at Paris’s Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) and is one of the founders ­– along with Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault and Jean-Francois Lyotard – of the University of Paris’s philosophy school. His talk, which will be in French with simultaneous translation into Greek, is part of the IFA’s new lecture cycle, “Contemporary Thought,” and admission is free of charge. Begins at 7 p.m.
