Index 0.17 percent off in subdued session
Stocks eased in subdued pre-holiday trade yesterday as investors locked in recent gains in OTE Telecom. «There’s limited interest so the market is unable to forge a clear direction,» said analyst Dimitris Triantafyllou at Euroxx Securities. OTE, which had gained more than 4 percent last week, lost 0.37 percent to 10.80 euros while the benchmark general index inched down 0.17 percent to 1,817.35 points. Turnover slipped to 70 million euros, from 91.75 million on Friday, with 18.4 million shares changing hands. Blue chips slipped 0.03 percent to 890.30 points. Banks gained 0.29 percent in muted trade while National Bank retreated 0.14 percent to 14.00 euros and Alpha Bank gained 1.49 percent to 12.30 euros. Mid-caps dropped 0.32 percent and small-caps fell 0.53 percent. Losers beat winners 178 to 102 with 77 shares unchanged on 357 traded. (Reuters)
