Grimaldi’s plans for Iraklio, Igoumenitsa

The president of the Grimaldi Group, Emanuele Grimaldi, has expressed his intention to develop the ports of Iraklio and Igoumenitsa in the long term, for the good of both the group and the Greek economy, as he claimed.

Speaking at the 25th Euromed Convention in Sorrento, Italy, last week he made it clear that, unlike other financial investors, he is not looking for a quick profit, nor does he intend to raise fees.

“I am the biggest user of the ports and I want to see them develop and improve their services,” he said, adding that especially in Igoumenitsa his plans include the development of trade roads around the axis of the Egnatia Odos highway.

The Grimaldi Group, together with its subsidiary, Minoan Lines, has made a bid for 67% of Igoumenitsa Port Authority. It is also expected to submit a binding financial offer for the majority stake in Iraklio Port Authority in the first quarter of 2023.
