TANKERS Very firm rates on Aframaxes in the N. Sea. Petroplus has fixed M/T «Athina M» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Sture (Norway) Feb. 26, discharging UKC, at W/S 240 and expected to rise further. – Med. stable, while a number of vessels failed yesterday. – Weather and transit delays give no alternatives to charterers than to meet at least present levels. – Caribs steady while W. Africa had nothing fresh to be reported. – In the Med., CRC for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 26 Libya, discharging UKC/Med., has fixed M/T «Gaetano d’Alesio» at W/S 295. – In the Cont., CSSA for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 16 for UKC round voyage, has fixed M/T «Nordic Yukon» at W/S 185. – In W. Africa, Stasco has fixed M/T «Front Warrior» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading March 3, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 180. DRY CARGO Stable conditions with Capers active in all areas. Coeclerici in the coal trade and for 150,000 tons of cargo has fixed M/V «Eurydice D» loading Colombia March 5-19, discharging Denmark, at USD 8.05 per ton with 50,000 tons’ load and 35,000 tons’ discharge. – Panamaxes stable, with Panocean in the Atlantic having fixed M/V «Sd Triumph,» 70,029 dwt, built 1994, delivery Passero end Feb., trip via Brazil, redelivery Far East, at USD 13,500 daily. – In the East, Mol Navix has fixed M/V «National Prosperity,» 75,100 dwt, built 1995, delivery Japan Feb. 11-15, trip via Australia, redelivery Japan, at USD 13,300 daily. – On smaller sizes, Uniwell has fixed M/V «Doric Spirit,» 52,428 dwt, built 2001, delivery East Coast India March 11-18, redelivery China, at USD 12,000 daily. – On coal cargoes, Coeclerici has fixed M/V «Eurydice D» for 150,000 tons of cargo, loading March 5-19 Colombia, discharging Denmark, at USD 8.05 per ton with 50,000 tons’ load and 35,000 tons’ discharge.
