TANKERS Firm conditions in all areas, with Aframax fixtures in the Med. ranging from W/S 350 to W/S 400, while Cont. market is moving upward with BHP fixing Nordic Akarita for 80,000 tons of cargo cross UK at W/S 272.5. – In the same area, Tamoil on Suezmaxes has fixed M/T «Knock An» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Tees, discharging Wilhelmshaven, at W/S 217.5. – In the Med., Sibneft has fixed M/T «Aegean Freedom» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Black Sea, discharging Med. at W/S 375, while Lukoil has fixed M/T «St Nicholas» for same cargo size and trip at W/S 360. – On Suezmaxes in the same area, BP has fixed Thenamaris tonnage, loading Supsa, Black Sea for 135,000 tons of cargo at W/S 280, while Karran has fixed M/T «Marina M» for 140,000 tons of cargo at W/S 245. – In West Africa, Sun has fixed M/T «Cosmic» for 135,000 tons of cargo, discharging USAC at W/S 192.5. Same charterers have also fixed the VLCC M/T «Bourgogne» for 260,000 tons with same destination at W/S 141.25. – In Caribs, Hess has fixed M/T «Evros» for 50,000 tons of cargo, loading St Croix, discharging USAC, at W/S 350, while Emerald has fixed Beyrl for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Whead, discharging USAC, at W/S 325. DRY CARGO Stable conditions in the market with charterers showing strong interest in short T/C periods. – On Capers, Sanko has fixed M/V «Tien Shan,» built 1994, for a 128,826-dwt delivery Kakogawa March 6-8 via Newcastle, redelivery Continent, at USD 18,750 daily. – On Panamaxes, Bottiglieri has fixed M/V «Monte Pelmo,» built 2000, for a 72,917-dwt delivery Hachinohe on February 28-March 5 for 30-32 months’ trading, redelivery worldwide, at 11,600 USD daily. – Cargill has fixed M/V «Dimitris Perrotis,» built 1984, with a 64,933-dwt delivery to Recalada March 11-15, redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero, at USD 102,50 daily and 320,000 ballast bonus, option for a second round-trip voyage at USD 10,750 daily, while Bunge has fixed M/V «M. Faruk,» built 1984, for a 63,494-dwt delivery Brazil March 5, redelivery Far East, at 11,900 USD daily and 290,000 ballast bonus.
