TANKERS The Med. market remains unchanged, with modern Aframaxes still being fixed at W/S 350, though inquiry is waning. – Cont. stable due to the number of cargoes being fixed with destination USAC / US Gulf. – Caribs market remains active with Aframaxes, with a number of fixtures at W/S 395 for 70,000-ton cargoes, while 130,000-ton cargoes are being fixed at W/S 200. – W. Africa market weaker, with Sun having fixed M/T «Genmar Spartiate» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading March 27, discharging USAC, at W/S 185. – In the Med., Most for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading March 22 Tunisia, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Vallombrosa» at W/S 350. – On Suezmaxes, Tupras for 145,000 tons of cargo, loading March 13 Egypt, discharging Turkey, has fixed M/T «Iran Semnan» at W/S 280. – In the Cont., Valero for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading March 20 N. Sea, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Nordisle» at W/S 320. – In Caribs, Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Combass» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading March 6 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 350. – In Arabian Gulf, Nippon has fixed tanker tonnage for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading March 29, discharging Japan, at W/S 107.5. DRY CARGO Trading on Capers remains very sluggish, with limited reported fixtures. Corus has fixed M/V «Awobasan» for 140,000 tons of ore, loading March 10-15 Narvik (Norway), discharging Netherlands, at USD 3.90 per ton. – In the East, rates seems steady with BHP Billiton booking the M/V «Aquajoy,» 171,000 dwt, built 2003, delivery Japan for a trip via East Coast Australia, redelivery Cont., at USD 22,000 daily. – Panamax market in the Atlantic remains firm with BHP Billiton having fixed M/V «Graeca,» 74,133 dwt, built 2001, delivery Ghent March 6, trip via East Coast S. America, redelivery East, at USD 15,500 daily. – East in comparison still quieter with brokers noting a buildup of tonnage. Italian charterers have fixed M/V «Petka,» 75,460 dwt, built 1999, delivery beg. March Philippines for 11-13 months’ trading at USD 12,750 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Chokang has fixed M/V «Sun,» 63,621 dwt, built 1983, delivery mid-March China, redelivery S. Korea, at USD 10,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Bunge has fixed M/V «Panacea,» 73,390 dwt, built 1997, delivery Passero mid-March, trip via East Coast S. America, redelivery Singapore, at USD 14,900 daily. – On smaller sizes, Mur has fixed M/V «An Ping 1,» 38,987 dwt, built 1986, delivery S. Africa March 11-18, redelivery UKC, at USD 9,250 daily.
