Visitors on the Dodecanese island of Rhodes were up 18.43 percent in June compared to the same period last year, according to official data released by the island’s airport.

Russian tourists topped the visitors list for the first time, followed by Britons and Germans.

According to the figures released, 321,795 travelers arrived at Diagoras Airport on chartered flights in June, compared to 271,718 visitors who flew in last year.

Local tourist officials predict that the 2013 summer season will be the best in the island’s history.
