Week of decline ends with daily gains for most stocks

Non-banking blue chips added significant gains to the local bourse on Friday, although over the course of the week the benchmark index registered a decline of 6.79 percent. That was the fourh consecutive week of losses.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 919.11 points, growing 2.50 percent from Thursday’s 896.68 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 index expanded 2.31 percent to 309.97 points.

Observers stress that given upcoming political and corporate developments, next week will be a particularly busy period for the market, with a meeting of the three coalition partners on Monday and the end to the trading of the buyback warrants of Piraeus and Attica Bank on Tuesday.

In total, 109 stocks posted gains, 47 registered losses and 20 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to just 47.4 million euros.
