Alpha Bank shares jump 15 pct, NBG also advances
Alpha Bank shares jumped nearly 15 percent on the Athens bourse early on Monday after trading in the stocks resumed following Friday’s suspension.
Alpha was up 14.82 percent at 5.50 euros at 11:30 am while National Bank (NBG) was advancing 4.76 percent to 7.93 euros.
Authorities had suspended trading in both stocks on Friday after NBG said it had submiited a proposal to merge with Alpha via an 8-for-11 share swap. An offer which was later rejected by Alpha.
