Barroso looks to Sunday meeting

European Commission President Jose Barroso said he looks to a Sunday meeting of euro-area finance ministers to resolve differences over aid to Greece.

?I look to Sunday?s eurogroup to resolve the remaining differences and come to a responsible agreement on financial assistance to Greece as outlined by Commissioner Rehn yesterday,? Barroso told reporters in Brussels on Friday.

?Greece must do its part and the European Union must do its part to preserve financial stability and economic recovery in Greece and in Europe,? Barroso said.

Optimism over another lifeline for Greece boosted Europe’s single currency after hitting a three-week low against the dollar on Thursday. The euro was up 0.5 percent on the day at $1.4278, paring earlier losses in volatile trade.
