Stocks give up 0.74 percent

Greek stocks retreated on Friday with investors nervously awaiting the vote on the government?s midterm plan next week, whose approval is needed to secure the next tranche of bailout money.

The Athens bourse?s benchmark general index eased 0.74 percent to 1,232.60 points, retreating 1.71 percent for the week.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dipped 0.87 percent to end at 548.84 points. Banks slipped 0.35 percent on mixed performances in the sector.

National Bank gave up 0.87 percent to 4.57 euros and Eurobank EFG ended at 3.04 euros, off 0.98 percent.

However, Piraeus Bank rose 0.98 percent to 1.03 euros, in line with peer Alpha, which firmed 1.26 percent to 3.21 euros.

OPAP underperformed, dropping 4.08 percent to 10.35 euros and OTE telecom fell 1.48 percent to 6.01 euros.

Turnover reached 59 million euros, versus 57 million in the previous session.
