ATEbank shines but index falls
The Greek bourse had a volatile session on Monday, given the mix of developments over the course of the day, and ended with marginal losses for the main index. Losing stocks slightly outnumbered those that ended with gains.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 1,306.45 points, falling 0.16 percent from last Friday?s close at 1,308.48 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 0.09 percent to end at 592.82 points.
ATEbank fed rumors of a significant development ahead with its 19.87 percent rise yesterday, outperforming all blue chips. On Friday it had added 11 percent. A distant second was Public Power Corporation (up 1.55 percent). Going down were Marfin Investment Group (3.08 percent), Ellaktor (2.38 percent) and Hellenic Petroleum (2.12 percent).
In total, 69 stocks moved up, 75 went down and 48 remained unchanged.
For the second session in a row, Euromedica posted the biggest rise, with gains of 20 percent, while Xylemporia led the losers, declining by 10 percent.
Turnover came to 77.3 million euros, down from 97.6 million last Friday.
