Exports keep local industry alive

Exports are playing a key role in the maintenance of industrial production in Greece, Hellenic Statistical Authority data showed on Wednesday.

New orders from the domestic market dropped by 3.9 percent in May 2010 from May 2011, but those from foreign markets grew 22.3 percent annually.

The textiles sector saw orders from abroad grow by 9.9 percent year-on-year, practically keeping the sector alive.
