Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos has some very significant meetings in Washington on Monday, in the wake of last Thursday’s eurozone decisions.
Among the meetings he will have in the US capital are those with his counterpart Timothy Geithner and the new managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde.
Venizelos, who is set to arrive in the US late on Sunday, will also meet the following day with the managing director of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), Charles Dallara, and key members of the Congress, such as Senators Tim Johnson, who chairs the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, and John Kerry, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.
Financial and diplomatic sources in Washington consider these meetings as very important at this point in time.
Venizelos will also address an event at the Peterson Institute for International Economics on ?Greek Crisis: Challenges and Opportunities.?
