Berlin says rejects carte blanche for bond purchases

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said the government is against a carte blanche for the euro zone’s rescue fund to purchase bonds on the secondary market, according to a letter obtained by Reuters on Wednesday.

Schaeuble also said the International Monetary Fund and European Central Bank assumed Greece would be able to achieve a primary budgetary surplus from 2012, and added that one summit would not be enough to solve the euro zone’s debt crisis.[Reuters]
