Market declines 3.4 pct on European losses

The drop seen across European markets and the Austrian reaction to the Greek-Finnish agreement on collateral for Helsinki?s 1-billion-euro loan inflicted fresh losses on Greek stocks on Thursday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 976.62 points, contracting by 3.38 percent from Wednesday?s closing figure of 1,010.76 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped 3.91 percent to end at 417.05 points.

Leading the losers among blue chips was Hellenic Postbank (down 9.14 percent), while Duty Free Shops was the only one to register gains (up 3.92 percent).

In total, 19 stocks moved up, 109 went down and 32 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to 46.2 million euros, up from 43.7 million on Wednesday.
