Eighth consecutive day of losses in bourse

The main index of the Athens bourse completed eight consecutive days of decline on Friday, amassing losses of 13.08 percent, while the banks? sectoral index has shrunk by 24.92 percent in the same period, as worries about Greece?s second bailout package are spreading.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 880.08 points, contracting by 1.02 percent from Thursday?s closing figure of 889.17 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped by 1.98 percent to end at 365.41 points.

National Bank lost 7.64 percent to drop below 3 euros (at 2.78 euros) and Alpha Bank fell by 5 percent to go under 2 euros (ending up at 1.90 euros).

In total, 42 stocks moved up, 84 went down and 54 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to 58 million euros, from 67.7 million euros on Thursday.
