No progress on red tape

The draft ministerial decision on the process of setting up a new manufacturing enterprise still requires no fewer than 15 documents and certificates, even for small businesses, according to a letter that the General Confederation of Greek Small Businesses and Traders (GSEVEE) sent to Development Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis.

This cancels out the main target of the ministry?s legislative intervention, which was to simplify the licensing process for manufacturing firms in order to encourage investment and bolster the economy.

Furthermore, the provision for the submission of certain certificates entails considerable costs, GSEVEE suggested. Charges for the submission of an application have multiplied, reaching up to 5,000 euros.
