Index reverts to downward course
After four consecutive sessions of gains, the banks sectoral index posted a small decline (0.79 percent), dragging the bourse?s main index down on Tuesday.
The market had already priced in the Eurogroup decision for the disbursement of the sixth tranche of loans to Greece.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 661.52 points, shedding 0.81 percent from Monday?s closing figure of 666.95 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 0.34 percent to close at 259.77 points.
Piraeus Bank lost 5.88 percent and Titan cement fell 3.58 percent, while Marfin Investment Group expanded by 5.75 percent.
In total, 61 stocks registered gains, 84 posted losses and 26 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 33.5 million euros, against Monday?s 39 million.
