No end to bourse drop as investors? worries increase

Stocks on the local bourse continued to slide on Tuesday, evidence of investor concern over the lack of progress in the talks between the government and its private sector creditors regarding the debt-swap plan.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 656.75 points, declining by 0.76 percent from Monday?s closing figure of 661.77 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index shrank by 0.81 percent to close at 253.85 points.

Eurobank EFG led the blue chip losers as it sunk 5.29 percent, while OPAP was the day?s biggest gainer, growing by 1.49 percent.

In total, 59 stocks registered gains, 94 posted losses and 25 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 30.6 million euros, down from Monday?s 32.6 million.
