PPC launches transmission operations
Public Power Corporation SA, Greece?s dominant electricity producer, said its unit ADMIE started operating the Greek Power Transmission System on Wednesday.
ADMIE will promote development of free competition in the Greek electricity market with transparency and equal access for all users, Athens-based PPC said in an e-mailed statement on Wednesday.
EU regulations allow dominant power companies to keep their supply and transmission businesses intact while forcing them to abide by a strict set of rules that require both activities to operate independently. [Bloomberg]
