Buying investors offset sellers in bourse

Buyers counterbalanced sellers in a ding-dong session at the Athens bourse on Wednesday, which ended with many investors cashing in on their rapid gains of the previous days and the majority of stocks adding to their price.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 796.10 points expanding by just 0.01 percent from Tuesday?s closing level of 796.02 points.

The blue-chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index lost 0.07 percent to close at 338.28 points, while the mid-cap index added 0.23 percent.

Alpha Bank continued its growth adding 9.21 percent, while Bank of Cyprus shed 5.70 percent.

In total, 105 stocks registered gains, 80 posted losses and 19 remained unchanged.

Turnover soared to 167.6 million euros from Tuesday?s 116.8 million.
