Mid-cap losses rain on stocks? parade after early rally

Positive signs ahead of yesterday?s Eurogroup meeting in Brussels produced an early rally on the Greek stock market on Monday although mid-cap losses limited the rise of the main index.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 825.75 points, adding 0.18 percent to Friday?s closing level of 824.26 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 0.42 percent to close at 348.38 points. The mid-cap index posted losses of 0.31 percent.

Hellenic Postbank grew by 7.61 percent, followed by Hellenic Petroleum (up 4 percent) and Public Power Corporation (3.07 percent). Coca-Cola HBC lost 2.57 percent.

In total, 95 stocks registered gains, 84 posted losses and 20 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 98 million euros, up from Friday?s 94.2 million.
