Bourse dips further on thin trade

The last bourse session of the week ahead of the Easter holidays ended with a fresh decline on Thursday following very thin trade, although the banks index posted marginal gains (0.11 percent).

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 714.78 points, shedding 1.22 percent from Wednesday?s final figure of 723.61 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index fell 1.09 percent to close at 279.79 points.

Alpha Bank led the blue chips with an increase of 4.63 percent, followed by Ellaktor (up 1.59 percent).

Hellenic Petroleum (down 3.93 percent), Hellenic Postbank (3.88 percent) and Marfin Investment Group (3.45 percent) were the worst off.

In total, 53 stocks registered gains, 75 posted losses and 19 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to 22.3 million euros, down from 48 million on Wednesday.
