Cautious trading leads to small gains for bourse

The eagerly anticipated financial results of the country?s four major commercial banks for last year were issued after the end of trading on Friday, resulting in investors behaving even more cautiously on the week?s last trading day.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the session at 714.51 points, adding just 0.08 percent to Thursday?s closing level of 713.92 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index gained 0.16 percent to close at 275.68 points. Nevertheless mid-caps shrank by 1.18 percent.

Blue chips had a mixed session, with Alpha Bank adding 4.90 percent and Hellenic Postbank declining by 4.36 percent.

In total, 55 stocks registered gains, 67 posted losses and 20 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 29.6 million euros, up from Thursday?s 27.1 million.
