Local stocks rebound on ERT verdict, rise 1.16 pct

The outcome of the court ruling on Greece’s state broadcaster created a rather positive mood among investors on Tuesday, resulting in gains for most Greek stocks, covering most of the losses incurred during Monday’s session.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 918.03 points, adding 1.16 percent to Monday’s 907.47 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 index grew by 1.63 percent to 311.34 points.

Most blue chips registered gains at the end of Tuesday’s session, with the exception of banks. Corinth Pipeworks outperformed, expanding by 5.47 percent, followed by Coca-Cola HBC with 5.45 percent and Hellenic Exchanges with 5.10 percent, while Piraeus Bank gave up 5.41 percent and Alpha lost 1.18 percent.

In total, 94 stocks posted gains, 37 registered losses and 24 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to 55 billion euros, up from Monday’s 47.2 million.
