Cyprus woes ‘can be overcome,’ says Demetriades
Panicos Demetriades (photo), who has succeeded Athanasios Orphanides as governor of the Cyprus Central Bank, has said problems faced by the economies and banking systems of Cyprus and the rest of the European Union can be addressed.
?Today?s problems and hurdles can be overcome,? Demetriades, who officially took up the position on Monday, said in Nicosia.
?With hard work, cooperation between all involved, honesty and careful handling both in and out of Cyprus, we will get through today?s difficulties.?
