Merkel says Athens must stick to bailout program

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday that Greece must stick to the budget program it agreed with international creditors in return for financial aid after elections on Sunday saw an upsurge of support for anti-bailout parties and no clear government constellation.

?The result is not uncomplicated, but I think the most important thing is that we give Greece the possibility to evaluate the results on its own,? Merkel told reporters in Berlin. ?It is of utmost importance that the programs that we agreed on with Greece continue to be implemented,? she said. ?The process is a difficult one, but despite that it should go on.?
