Bourse index dives below the 500-point mark

The main index of the Greek bourse dropped below the 500-point mark on Friday as more and more international institutions say they are making plans for a Greek exit from the eurozone.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 485.18 points, contracting by 3.45 percent from Thursday?s closing figure of 502.52 points. The index fell for the sixth week in succession, dropping 11.81 percent.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index gave up 3.43 percent to close at 178.77 points yesterday. Mid-caps added 1.45 percent.

Duty Free Shops led blue chips with gains of 3.03 percent, while Titan cement was the worst off with losses of 10.26 percent.

In total, 55 stocks recorded gains, 67 posted losses and 18 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 32.9 million euros, down from Thursday?s 36.7 million.
