PPC, Coca-Cola power benchmark index

A late surge by Public Power Corporation and Coca-Cola HBC stocks, among the top blue chips on the Athens bourse, saw the general benchmark index claw back ground lost earlier in the session to post moderate gains at the close on Tuesday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 620.07 points, adding 0.75 percent to Monday?s closing figure of 615.47 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 0.07 percent to close at 227.49 points.

PPC added 6.40 percent and CCHBC gained 4.96 percent, while Marfin Investment Group gave up 4.37 percent.

In total, 63 stocks posted gains, 51 recorded losses and 19 remained unchanged.

Turnover slumped to 22.1 million euros, from Monday?s 35.6 million.
