Fear of clash with creditors sees stocks suffer losses

Investor fears of a clash between the government and representatives of the country?s international creditors sent stocks diving around halfway through Thursday?s bourse session, transforming gains into losses in all indices.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 637.05 points, contracting 2.03 percent from Wednesday?s closing figure of 650.27 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index gave 2.42 percent to close at 232.55 points.

Ellaktor continued its rising course, adding 6.72 percent to its stock value, while Alpha Bank was the worst off among blue chips, sliding 6.35 percent.

In total, 62 stocks posted gains, 63 recorded losses and 22 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 40.6 million euros, up from Wednesday?s 33.6 million.
