ESEE calls for 11 pct fall in commerce salaries
The National Confederation of Greek Commerce (ESEE) is proposing an 11 percent salary drop until the country’s economy emerges from the crisis, thereby reopening negotiations for the signing of a new collective contract in the sector.
ESEE has worked on a draft contract and a set of proposals that it has forwarded to the General Confederation of Greek Small Businesses and Traders (GSEVEE) and to the Federation of Private-Sector Employees of Greece (OIYE).
The proposal is for the minimum salary in commerce to decline from 918.13 euros to 815 euros per month, an 11.23 percent decline. All other salary brackets will see an 11 percent drop, but with all benefits maintained as agreed in previous contracts.
The Athens News Agency reported on Friday that the employers and employees are close to agreeing to a basic salary of 860 euros per month, after the ESEE proposal.
Regarding non-salary labor costs, ESEE is proposing a 10 percent reduction.
It is also recommending a 0.1 percent tax on the annual turnover of enterprises.
