Russia sees loan to Cyprus as possible

Russia may provide Cyprus a loan to recapitalize the island?s banking system after it began to suffer from ties to Greece?s lenders, said Vladimir Chizhov, Russia?s ambassador to the European Union.

?If the talks conclude with an agreement, it will be a bilateral agreement unrelated? to the assistance being offered by international financial institutions, Chizhov told reporters on Monday in Moscow.

Russia is in talks to provide Cyprus a 5-billion-euro loan, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters last week.
