Subsidized tourism plan is back on

Tourism Minister Olga Kefaloyianni authorized on Tuesday the revival of the state-subsidized tourism program for the next 10 months, which will see the issuing of 81,200 tokens for subsidized six-day vacations in various resorts across the country.

The «Tourism for Everyone» program is for people with annual personal incomes of up to 18,000 euros.

The social tourism program had been halted as a result of the abolition of the Workers? Welfare Organization (OEE) by the government of Lucas Papademos, which came as a serious blow to a great number of tourism accommodation units, putting their survival in doubt.

The program will cost the state 5.5 million euros and is part of an effort to bolster domestic tourism.
