CSFIII inspections cause some concern

Inspectors of projects for which EU investment subsidies are being sought under the Third Community Support Framework (CSFIII) have found a series of irregularities which are a source of concern, sources said. In 27 inspections, officials found irregularities regarding transparency and public procurement contracts in the program for the Regulatory Authority for Energy, and inappropriately disbursed funds for start-up farmers in several prefectures. The European Commission has already made note of a number of irregularities in railway projects. Sources point out that controls under CSFIII are much stricter than previously and estimate that up to 25 to 30 percent of the approximately 50-billion-euro investment package may be lost if ways are not mended.
