Bourse bucks European trend to post small decline

Despite the significant gains posted by other European markets on Thursday, the Greek bourse remained in negative territory over the course of the session, with turnover returning below the 20-million-euro mark.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 583.20 points, shedding 0.83 percent from Wednesday?s closing figure of 588.09 points.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index slipped 0.64 percent to close at 208.14 points.

Cyprus Popular Bank rebounded from its huge drop on Wednesday to regain 10 percent on Thursday, while Ellaktor added 3.88 percent. Public Power Corporation lost 4.90 percent.

In total, 47 stocks posted gains, 73 recorded losses and 22 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 19.8 million euros, down from Wednesday?s 22.5 million.
