Cyprus, troika talks to continue in next weeks

Cyprus will continue talks with European Union and International Monetary Fund officials in the next weeks, government spokesman Stefanos Stefanou (photo) said on Friday in Nicosia.

?We stressed that the Cypriot economy has the possibility and may respond effectively to mild measures,? Stefanou told reporters after the so-called troika of officials met with Cypriot government officials at the Nicosia-based Finance Ministry.

The meetings in the next week will be conducted by telephone and the focus will be fiscal adjustment and measures to boost growth, Stefanou said.
