TANKERS There are steady rates for Aframaxes in the Med. and Cont. The 80,000 tons of cargoes are fixed at W/S 180-185 and W/S 155-160 respectively. – Caribs steady with Chemoil having fixed M/T «Aegean Freedom» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading May 20, discharging US Gulf at W/S 185. – Suezmaxes appear to be quite firm for prompt positions in the Med. and especially out of the Black Sea. Meanwhile in West Africa the 130,000 tons of cargoes are still fixed at W/S 120-125. – Sun has fixed M/T «Seastar,» loading June 10, discharging USAC at W/S 122.5. – In the North Sea, Navion has fixed M/T «Front Striver» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading May 28, discharging Med. at W/S 150. – In West Africa, Petrogal has fixed M/T «Tribute» for 130,000 tons of cargo loading June 6, discharging Portugal at W/S 127.5. – In the Arabian Gulf, Repsol for 275,000 tons of cargo loading June 3 Iran, discharging Spain has fixed M/T «Emma Maersk» at W/S 99. DRY CARGO Capesize rates hit all-time high: 75-point gain in a day on Friday. Rates are moving nicely to USD 40,000 daily. – In Atlantic and for round voyage Bocimar has fixed M/V «Lowlands Rose,» 171,039 dwt, built 1996, delivery June 1-10 UKC, trip via Brazil, redelivery UKC at USD 33,000 daily. – Corus in the East has fixed M/V «Pantagruel,» 151,153 dwt, built 1995, delivery 27-30 May, trip via Australia, redelivery UKC at USD 25,000 daily. – Atlantic on Panamaxes at steady levels, while Asian market still racing up despite limited activity. – On Panamax in Far East, BPI has fixed M/V «Global F,» 73,729 dwt, built 1998, delivery China May 23-25 for 30-60 days’ trading at USD 16,700 daily. – In the Atlantic, Sanko has fixed M/V «Nordweser,» 75,321 dwt, built 2001, delivery US Gulf May 30-31, redelivery Japan at USD 21,500 daily and USD 425,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, Voc has fixed M/V «Pacific Wisdom,» 42,010 dwt, built 1992, delivery US Gulf end May, redelivery Spain at USD 21,500 daily.
