Gas prices on the rise

Unleaded gasoline prices remain at high levels, close to 2 euros per liter in many outlying regions such as Crete and the Aegean islands, posing an additional damper for holidaymakers.

Prices in most outlets along the country?s main highways are reported steadily above 1.90 euros per liter.

According to the Development Ministry?s Fuel Prices Observatory, the average price for unleaded gasoline price nationwide two days ago was 1.793 euros per liter, up 2.7 percent in two weeks.

The most expensive districts were Lasithi, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and Achaia. According to the latest available European Commission data, Greece is the third most expensive country for gasoline after Sweden and Italy.
