OTE, OPAP, Coca-Cola HBC account for half of turnover

Blue chips, led by OTE telecom, Friday continued powering the Greek stock market higher, providing encouraging signs toward the close of trade of further gains in the short term.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark index ended 1.22 percent higher, closing at 639.27 points, with the blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index adding 1.35 percent to 231.38 points.

OTE surged 6.38 to 2.50 euros, while Coca-Cola HBC climbed 4.73 percent to 15.49 euros. National Bank advanced 1.54 percent, Alpha Bank was 2.27 percent higher, and Public Power Corp added 2.92 percent. Gaming firm OPAP, which again accounted for more than a fifth of total turnover, rose 0.19 percent. By contrast, Hellenic Petroleum dived 4.62 percent and Piraeus shed 2.17 percent.

Turnover rose to 18 million euros.
