Industrial orders down 8.8 pct y-o-y in June

Industrial orders in Greece were down 8.8 percent in June, compared to a year earlier, according to figures published the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Monday.

?The New Orders Index in Industry (both domestic and non-domestic market) in June 2012 compared with June 2011 recorded a decline of 8.8%. In June 2011, the annual rate of change of the New Orders Index in Industry was ?0.7%,? said ELSTAT.

?The average New Orders Index in Industry for the 12-month period from July 2011 to June 2012, compared with the 12-month period from July 2010 to June 2011, decreased by 6.8%. In June 2011, the corresponding average rate of change of the New Orders Index in Industry was 5.5%.?

Despite the drop in orders, industrial turnover posted a rise in June. According to the Industrial Turnover Index, there was an increase of 0.7 percent compared to a year earlier.
