FTSE indices up for review
The Athens bourse on Monday launched a review process for its FTSE indices, with the aim of including more middle-capitalization stocks on the basis of fundamentals.
?The change in the categorization model will help good companies of middle capitalization to attract the attention they deserve from foreign funds,? said Athens Exchange (ATHEX) President Socrates Lazaridis. The reason for the change in methodology ?is to give greater weight to real fundamentals such as the price-to-earnings and equity ratios, instead of capitalization and trading volume that are the main gauges today,? he added.
A new index will monitor the exporting businesses listed on the Athens bourse.
